Summertime.........And the Livin' is Easy!

All kinds of things are happening here at the inn as we begin our busiest time of the year!  We've been  planting, painting and readying the inn for your visit this summer!

Our son Jesse has done almost every job at the inn....you might remember him as a small boy shoeveling snow, cutting grass (or skateboarding and biking!).  As he got to high school he more than likely was helping in the kitchen  and sometimes serving breakfast or more recently he greeted you, checked you in and made you a drink while in between college semesters! 

 He just graduated from James Madison University and is now in Chicago working for a sports marketing firm.  We are very proud of him and even managed to squeeze in a celebration vacation together as a family!

Now meet the newest visitor the inn....a few weeks ago we had a visit from this Mama Bear....she sauntered into our garden several evenings over a couple of weeks.  We all scrambled for cameras and watched in awe as she wandered around looking for snacks! 

All the bird feeders are now down (first time in 11 years we've had this kind of visitor!) and we haven't seen her in awhile.

Speaking of our dining room, have you seen our new  SummerMenu ?  Mason and I often don't get a chance to enjoy our own Inn's dinner, but we enjoyed a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening with a group of hopeful future innkeepers who were attending a seminar at the inn.  Wow!  What a dinner!!  Chef Ian outdid himself again with a lovely menu.  I had the salmon and Mason had the duck and we were reminded to dine in our dining room more frequently!!  Don't miss the yummy desserts either.

In other exciting news we received a terrific accolade from Yankee Magazine as we were voted Best Gourmet Getaway in their Best of New England issue on stands now.  We were thrilled to receive this honor.
